A doctor who allegedly taken away property of the JN Hospital, Porompat supply by Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS) and used as his private property at home caught by the volunteers of All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) today.
AMADA has urged the authority concerned to give force retirement to the alleged 56 year old doctor Aribam Nabakanta of Bamon Leikai currently staying at the official quarter inside the complex of the JN Hospital.
He has been charged of brought down one refrigerator, a colour TV set (flat LG brand), projector and DVD supply to the hospital by MACS.
With regard to the detection of using hospital properties in private practice, RK Bobi, social welfare secretary, AMADA headquarter, in a press conference, observed that the malpractice meted out by the doctor is amidst the cry of the AMADA and other like minded organizations to make healthcare sector a free zone apart from a corruption free and help in making the society free from all sort of intoxicant and other narcotic substances.
The use of hospital properties at his home by doctor Nabakanta was detected during a drive conducted by AMADA volunteers at the JN Hospital on June 27 last.
The equipments he was found using in his private practice includes a refrigerator, one colour TV, projector and DVD, he added.
As per disclosure made by the doctor to AMADA, he is currently looking after the charge of prevention of parent to child (HIV) transmission at JN Hospital for the last three year.
He had brought down the items to home around six months back.
The projector and DVD machine had brought down as soon as it were supply to the hospital even though he knew that the items are to be kept at the hospital.
The items caught by the AMADA were later handed over to the JN Hospital authority today.
AMADA will henceforth starts drive at government, private hospitals, clinics and other healthcare centres, Bobi further said.
