Manipuri film actress, Urikkhinbam Devita has been remanded in police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bishnupur today for further investigation into her alleged nexus with an underground outfit.
Bishnupur police informed the court that the actress has been picked up in connection with a pending case at the Bishnupur Police Station registered in 2007 .
An official source said that a case under FIR 108(10)-07 under section 17/20 UA (P) Act 2004 was registered with the Bishnupur Police Station in 2007 .
The case was related with the arrest of a man named O Chandrakumar, son of O Mani of Ningthoukhong Ward No.7 with arms and incriminating documents in 2007 .
On his disclosure during the interrogation, Devita's name had come up.
During today's hearing in the court, police prayed for nine days' remand of the actress to enable the police to investigate the case properly.
After hearing the arguments from the government counsel and that of the actress, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Bishnupur ordered Devita's remand in police custody for five days from today with an instruction that medical check up of the actress should be conducted every 48 hours if needed.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that another woman from Oinam in Bishnupur district has been picked up, and noted cameraman Laimayum Surjakanta of Nagamapal has also been picked up by Bishnupur police for interrogation.
Reports said that Surjakanta had issued an identity card of NE TV to RK Raghunath who was arrested in South Delhi by a combined team of Bpr police commando and Delhi police last Saturday.
