22nd Senior State Basketball Championship : Model Club, WUYC, ESU and CYLC sail through to semifinal

Model Club, Chingamakha; WUYC, Wangkhei Angom Leikai; ESU Palace Compound and CYLC, Chingamathak cruised to semi-final of the ongoing 22nd Senior State Basketball Championship which is underway since November 11 at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court under the aegis of Manipur Basketball Association.
In the first Group A league match played in the morning, Ideal Club, Sagolband Tera defeated YPHU, Lalambung Makhong by 59-47 points.
Ideal Club led the first quarter by 13-9 points and by 25-24 points in the second quarter.
Even though, YPHU fought hard to gain the lead, Ideal Club managed to maintain the lead with 41-34 points in the third quarter too and eventually won match by 59-47 points in the fourth quarter.
The leading scorer of Ideal Club was Tinku who scored 20 points while RK Aryan Napolean (17), Pratap (16) and Romeo (6) are the other scorers for Ideal Club.
For YPHU, Ch Tutu scored 18 points, A Akash 17 points, Jenson 5 points, Emanuel Mar 4 points and L Ozzy 3 points.
In the second Group B league match played in the morning, St Anthony Sports Club beat YOSC, Khurai Konsam by 49-34 points.
St Anthony Sports Club led the first quarter with 12-3 points, the second quarter with a score of 21 -7 points and further extended the lead to 33-23 points in the third quarter and won the match by 49-34 points convincingly in the fourth quarter.
Marshal was the leading scorer for St Anthony Sports Club gathering 13 points while Lovejoy scored 11 points, Victor added 9 points, Sashi and Jon Pao scored 6 points each.
Geetchandra and Napoleon scored 2 points each.
For YOSC, Naocha scored 12 points while David, Tangamba, Meiraba, Jaichandra and Rohit gathered 4 points each and Albert scored 2 points.
In the first Group A league match played in the afternoon, CYLC, Chingamathak overwhelmed Model Club, Chingamakha by 74-66 points.
CYLC put all its energy to notch a victory in the match against Model Club to enter the semifinal.
CYLC was leading the first quarter with 22-17 points and extended the lead further to 42-32 points in the second quarter.
CYLC pressed hard in the third quarter to take a healthy with 57-44 points and won the match by 74-66 points at the end of the fourth quarter.
Both the team managed to enter semifinal based on the points collected and their standing in the team.
The scorer of CYLC are Y Amardeep (20), W Romen (20), L Jackson (15), S Vishwanath (13) and L Rambo (6) in their journey to victory.
For Model Club, H Radheshyam scored 25 points, S Vishal 22 points, Sh Victor 7 points, I Daniel and I Ruresh scored 6 points each.
In the second Group B league match played in the afternoon, ESU Palace Compound overpowered Lamka Hooper, Ccpur by 61-27 points.
ESU led the first quarter by 19-6 points, the second quarter by 36-10 points, the third quarter by 46-22 points and won the match with 61-27 points at the end of the fourth quarter.
Camper emerged the top scorer of ESU who scored 30 points followed by Boy (16), Mayarngam (12) and Rohit (3).For Lamka Hooper, Mun Mang and Johnny scored 8 points each, JarJou Lian and Stalin Thang 4 points each, Dou Mai Swan 2 points and Moikhan Muwan 1 points.
Semifinal lineup: Model Club, Chingamakha will meet WUYC Wangkhei Agom Leikai in the first semifinal at 6.30 am tomorrow while ESU Palace Compound will lock horn with CYLC Chingamathak in the second semifinal at 7.30 am .
