Imphal, April 23 2022: The Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur and Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom, Imphal West jointly observed "Khongjom Day" today at Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom.

The observance function was attended by Thounaojam Priyokumar Singh, former secretary, Thang-Ta Federation of India; Huidrom Premkumar, president Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association and Heikrujam Cha Babu, secretary Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively, said Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association in a statement.

The martial artistes and officials of the association paid rich tributes to the heroes of Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 by offering flowers and recalled the supreme sacrifice they made to protect the sovereignty of Manipur, it said.

During the function, Huidrom Premkumar, president of Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association observed that the Anglo-Manipuri War was the greatest battle in the history of Manipur and commemorated the valour of Major Paona Brajabashi, Chinglen Sana, Khumbong Major, Loitongba Jamadar, Keisa Jamadar, Heirang Khongja and other rank and files of Manipur warriors who sacrificed their lives in the battlefield, the statement said.
