Kangpokpi, January 21 2022: Jonlhing Veng teams had a memorable day as they notched up comfortable wins in U-15 boys football, women's volleyball and veteran football competitions in the 18th Kangpokpi Inter Ward Tournament 2022 being underway at Brigadier M Thomas ground.

In an U-15 football match staged this morning, Jonlhing Veng brushed aside Lamdil Veng 4-1 thanks to Thangminkai's brace in the 8th and 46th minutes.

Ngamgunsang (12) and Lungougin(39) also scored a goal apiece en route to Jonlhing Veng's convincing win while the lone goal for Lamdil Veng was scored by Seigoulun in the 18th minute.

In women's volleyball, Lamdil Veng defeated Lendou veng 3-2 (21-5, 19-21, 18-21, 21-12, 15-6) in a closely fought first match before Jonlhing Veng eased 21-9, 21-6, 21-8 past the Phungtin Veng in the second match.

Meanwhile in the first match of men's volleyball staged today, Kholmun Veng defeated Kilkhong Veng in straight sets (25-10, 25-21, 25-17) and Nanglhun Veng defeated Enjakhup Veng 3-1 (17-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-16) in the second match.

In today's first match of the veteran football competition, Kholmun Veng salvaged a 1-1 draw with Lamdil Veng after a narrow 0-1 loss in their previous match.

Lamdil Veng were first to find the lead via Thanglenlal in the 27th minute but the lead was short-lived with Kholmun Veng pulled level through Lamminhao in the 36th minute.

It was an end to end affair in the remainder of the game as the two sides looked to find the lead but to no avail.

In the second match, Jonlhing Veng thumped Sipinthei Veng 2-0 courtesy Mangminhao (14') and Nehgoulen (20') goals.

In the day's first match of the main football, Dr GG Crozier Mission Compound cruised to a 6-3 win over Lendou Veng as Khupsanglen scored twice (11', 20') after Paogunmang (7') netted the opener.

Khaigun (26'), Demkhoseh (34'), and Lenjakham (51') also found their names on the scoresheet for the winning side while Lendou Veng goals came from Haogunchon (46', 59') after Seigouthang of Dr GG Crozier fumbled and conceded an own goal in the 25th minute.

The day also saw Jonlhing Veng and Moltinchan Veng play out a 1-1 draw in the main competition.

Premson scored it for Moltinchan Veng in the 5th minute before it was equalized by Haominlen of Jonlhing Veng in the 50th minute.
