Imphal, June 03 2017:
Manipur will face the Railways Sports Promotion Board in the final match of the 22nd Senior Women's National Football Championship in Jalandhar, Punjab.
The team booked the spot after defeating Odisha by 21 in the first semi-final match and in the other the Railways drubbed Haryana 41 .
Ng Bala opened the account for Manipur at the beginning of the second half.
She crossed her opponent's defence and got the ball passed through the Odia goal post successfully at the 48th minute of the game.
The team was leading convincingly though with a single goal.
When Dangmei Grace took her turn in the 71st minute to score another goal, the match was almost decided with the scoreboard showing 20 in favour of Manipur.
Odisha did attempt the best it could and showed the game was not over with an advancing counterattack.
Subdar turned one of those gambles into a goal in the 85th minute but in the end it was too late for the irrevocable Manipuri attacks.
In their previous encounter, Manipur had lost to Railways via a tiebreaker in the final match last year in Jabalpur.
However, the spirit is high in Jallandhar and the Manipuri players will certainly be looking for a game plan to salvage their reputation in the final match scheduled on June 5.The stats are as well inclining towards them.
This is the 22nd edition of the championship and Manipur had clinched the title, not five or ten, but 17 times already.
