PTRC go top with win over RULE as REYS upstage Al-Ameen

Imphal, March 17 2023: PTRC beat RULE by 12 runs to top the MNCA Elite Tournament standings as REYS upstaged Al-Ameen by six wickets on Friday.

Put in to bat, PTRC batters struggled against a disciplined RULE bowling attack and were dismissed in 25 overs for 167 .

In their innings, the Patsoi side relied on Chingakham Bi-dash Metei's knock of 65 off 43 balls and Gemson Mutum's 26, coupled with contributions from Ngariyanbam Johnson (17), Jotin Pheiroijam (17) and Bishworjit Konthoujam (ll), to cross the 160-run mark.

In the process, PTRC lost three wickets to N Denin and two each to Rojit Angomcha, N Sarojkumar and S Ananda.

PTRC successfully defended their total, thanks to their trio of Jotin Pheiroijam, Raj-kumar Rex and Chingakgam Bidash whose bowling efforts helped the Patsoi squad bowl out RULE in 25 overs.

Jotin turned out to be the main destroyer, claiming four wickets as Rex and Bidash took two each and Bishworjit Konthoujam accounting for one.

Jotin trapped Somokanta LBW for 1 in three balls before the PTRC pacer removed Rakesh (ll), N Denin (44), Sa- rojkumar (17) and Prameshore (l).

Jay Singh (44) was another key run getter in RULE'S defeat.

Bidash, who made his mark with 65 off 43 balls and took 2 wickets, got the man of the match trophy.

The win propelled PTRC to the top of the league table with 16 points from their eight games, two points clear of second-placed CYCLONE.

REYS, meanwhile, dished out a commanding six-wick-et win over Al-Ameen in a shortened match to stay fourth in the standings.

Opting to field, REYS restricted Al-Ameen to 103/8 in 20 overs.

The opposition's innings saw Al Bashid (27) Shahadat Ali (27) and Kabir Ahmed (26) get into double digits.

For REYS, Romario and Sapam Bikash snapped two wickets each while Nanao Laishram, Alfred Hmar and Kiran Laishram took one a piece.

REYS then surpassed Al-Ameen's total in 19.2 overs with six wickets to spare.

Basir Rahman led the run chase scoring 48 off 52 balls as Sougrakpam Shangkar made 21 off 25 balls.

Other contributors in their successful chase were Naoshekpam Manglem ba (18), Paul Zomi (5 not out), Romario (4) and Alfred Hmar (3 not out) .

Basir Rahman was adjudged the man of the match for his 48 runs.
