Imphal, October 23 2024:
The Technical Committee of the Manipur Equestrian Association (MEA) has appointed K Dhanachandra Sharma as manager and Salam Girimohan Singh as coach for the 38th National Games, scheduled to take place in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, 2025.N Bedajeet Singh, chairman of the Technical Committee, stressed that preparations for Manipur's equestrian squad must begin far in advance because horse management is crucial.
"The host state, Uttarakhand has announced a list of disciplines, including equestrian, for the Games.
We must begin preparing ourselves as soon as possible.
Maintaining the horses and developing a relationship with the creature and the rider to compete in any tournament requires its own natural course of time.
As a result, we have appointed qualified coach, manager, and farriers to help the state win medals," N Bedajeet said.
Salam Girimohan, coach of the Manipur equestrian team, stated that the introduction of equestrian discipline in the Uttarakhand National Games provides an opportunity for Manipur's riders.
"The Manipur Equestrian team has contributed to the state's medal count in previous National Games.
We will hold a selection trial at the earliest possible time and send the riders to Dibrugarh to train on the larger horses.
The MEA is making the necessary arrangements for the riders' trial," Girimohan said.
