Behiang hosts intercountry tourney

The border village of Behiang has hosted an intercountry football tournament under the aegis of Behiang Youth Club at a renovated playground that was first gifted to the village by GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen N S Gill in 1996 .
'It is for the first time in the history of Behiang that 15 Zomi teams from both India and Myanmar are participating in the Football tournament,' said a source from the Assam Rifles.
The AR have sponsored the tournament that began yesterday and is scheduled to continue till December 17, 2018 .
Behiang Youth Club also lauded the AR for their assistance in restoring the playground which had not been renovated since its inauguration.
In addition to the support, Assam Rifles will also be conducting a medical camp on the concluding day of the football tournament, added a source.
