Four remanded to judicial custody

Imphal, December 14 2018:
Four individuals, including a Territorial Army personnel, who were arrested by a team of Imphal West district police following a short encounter at Awang Sekmai Nongthongband on December 5, were produced before the Court today and remanded to judicial custody till December 28.It may be mentioned that on the said day, the four individuals were arrested by Imphal West commando personnel following an encounter after they were found trying to sell a weapon in Sekmai area.
After the short encounter, the said individuals attempted to flee but one of them, Paogoulen Singson s/o Thanglinlen Singson of Phaileng village, Saikul (who also happens to be an UTLA cadre) sustained a bullet injury on his left thigh.
Two 9 mm pistols along with magazines and live bullet rounds were also recovered by the police team.
The arrested persons identified as Kamal Paul s/o Saikokam Paul of Aizawl, Mizoram (Havildar of Territorial Army, now attached to 17 Assam Rifles), Angom Pholo Singh's/o (L) Manglem of Sekmai Nongthongband, T Joseph Singson s/o (L) Sehlal Singson of Phailen village (UTLA cadre) and Paogoulen Singson s/o Thanglinlen Singson of Phaileng village, Saikul (the injured UTLA cadre) were produced before the Court'of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West II, today, along with a prayer for remanding them to judicial custody for smooth investigation of the case.
After going through the case record, the Court remanded the arrested individuals to judicial custody for 15 days, till December 28 .
