MEA kickstarts preparation for 38th National Games Equestrian

Imphal, October 23 2024: The Manipur Equestrian Association (MEA) has kick-started preparation of constituting State team for the 38th National Games to be hosted by Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, 2025 .

In view of the upcoming National Games which included Equestrian as one of the disciplines, MEA has appointed K Dhanachandra Sharma and Salam Girimohan as manager and coach ahead of the State team trial to be conducted at the earliest, said MEA in a statement.

N Bedajeet Singh, chairman of the technical committee has said that the preparation of the State team has to begin in advance as management of horses is very important, it said.

He also observed that building bonds between the horse and the rider takes its natural course of time and therefore the association has appointed the team officials and farriers for the preparations in advance, it said.

Newly appointed coach, Salam Girimohan also said that the inclusion of the Equestrian discipline in the upcoming games is an opportunity for the riders of Manipur, it said.

It also quoted Girimohon as saying- " The Manipur Equestrian team had contributed to the State's medal tally in the past National Games.

We will conduct a selection trial at the earliest of the probables and send the riders to Dibrugarh to train them on bigger horses.

MEA is making necessary arrangements for the trial" .
