Imphal, May 17 2024: TCDMC, Thongju; YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai and CYCLONE, Thangmeiband triumphed as the 1 st MNCA Men's U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Tournament 2023-24 kick-started today in three venues.

TCMDC began their group (B) campaign with a 69 run victory via VJD method against Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha at Lairenjam Public Ground in a match that saw the Model Club's innings reduced to 30 overs with a revised target of 171 runs after TCMDC posted 201 for 8 in 40 overs.

TCMDC after electing to bat first rode on a blistering half century knock of Rain Urikhinbam (37-ball 55) and significant contributions from Laishram Vivekananda (45 off 58 balls) and Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma (42 off 65 balls) to add 201/8 in the allotted 40 overs.

Bisal Ningombam returned with the best bowling figures of 3/29 in 8 overs for Model Club as four others picked a wicket apiece.

In reply, Model Club batters faltered badly and were bundled out for 101 runs in 22.1 overs as Ringku Kangujam (3/18 in 5 overs), Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma (2/16 in 6 overs) rattled the batting line up.

Thoudam Deepak 37 off 29 balls and Suson 20 off 33 balls were the only double digit run getters for Model Club in their innings.

Rain (1/12), Albert Sorokhaibam (1/13) and Vishonath Laishram (1/0) were also among wickets for TCMDC as two Model Club batters including Th Deepak got run out.

Kalyan Sharma was declared man of the match.

Kadamjit Moirangthem fires YUCC to a 7-wicket win over REYS
In the Group C opener staged at Moijing Public Ground, Kadamjit Moirangthem picked 6 wickets and scored highest 40 to steer YUCC to a commanding 7-wicket win over REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai.

REYS opted to bat first but had a forgetful outing as they slumped to 109 all out in 23 overs as Kadamjit Moirangthem (6/30 in 6 overs) and Somraj Laishram (2/21 in 6 overs) combined well to run through the line up.

Khunjamayum Devis 20, Naoshekpam Manglemba 15 and Sapam Bikash 13 were the lead run getters for REYS in the inning which also saw Ningthoujam Rahulkumar and Ningthoujam Kenedy claiming a wicket apiece.

In the chase, YUCC had a stuttering start and were reduced to 29/3 within 6.3 overs but Ningthoujam Rohit 38 off 40 balls and Kadamjit Moirangthem 40 off 41 balls forged an unbeaten 85 run partnership for the fourth wicket to take YUCC to winning 114 within 18.5 overs.

Kadamjit was eventually adjudged man of the match.

Rohit Moirangthem hits unbeaten 95 in CYCLONE'S 3 wicket victory over PTCC
The day also saw CYCLONE, Thangmeiband kick off their group (D) campaign with a 3-wicket win over PTCC, Patsoi Part III at Khangabok Cherapur Public ground.

PTCC won the toss and opted to bat first.

Despite a good start courtesy of Andy Mandingbam who added a 43-ball 50 and Paonam Championship who added a 37-ball 35, they were bundled out for 184 runs in 35 overs as CYCLONE'S Aditya Das (4/40), Aribam Ronald Sharma (3/22) and Thomson Moirangthem (2/46) wreaked havoc.

Dhirendrakishor 32 and Loukrakpam Anao 23 also reached double digit figures for PTCC 7 other batters departed cheaply including 3 batters on duck.

In reply, Rohit Moirangthem struck an unbeaten 95 off 106 deliveries to steer CYCLONE to the target in 32.5 overs.

Aditya Prasad 23 and Donny 13 also contributed to CYCLONE'S tally in an innings that also saw PTCC bowlers concede 35 extras.

Dominic claimed two wickets (2/38) for PTCC as M Gunggung, L Anao, M Andy L Yaiphaba and T Devas grabbed a wicket apiece.

Rohit who clobbered 8 fours and 3 sixes on the way to his 95 not out was adjudged man of the match.
