Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 held

Chd/Tbl, September 04 2021: Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel in collaboration with District Administration Tengnoupal organised Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 on Saturday to spread the message of fitness and good health.

The freedom run was flagged off by Tengnoupal Deputy Commissioner, Praveen Singh from DC office to Gabby's Cafe in Tengnoupal, said a statement of NYK Chandel.

Ng Rameson Monsang, District Youth Officer, NYK Chandel; Salim Peter, Field Response Officer National Helpline for Senior citizens and Th Henry, former Chennai City Player also participated in the Fit India Run.

Speaking on the occasion, Praveen Singh stressed that youths should be more conscious of the fitness and health of their body as they should not be over influenced by technological devices.

"We should maintain balance between the impact of technology on our life with proper fitness measures, so that we are not a burden to the community and society.

Our fitness will be a blessing to the wellbeing of our society", he asserted.

Around 85 enthusiastic members including youths of affiliated youth clubs under NYK Chandel/Tengnoupal took part in the Fit India Freedom Run at their respective villages.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal in collaboration with District Administration Thoubal also carried out a 'District Level Fit India Freedom Run 2.0' as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on September 4 from Khongjom War Memorial Complex to Landing Model Hr Sec School.

Over 100 youths of Thoubal district were flagged off from Khongjom War Memorial by Hasina Begum, Adhyaksha Thoubal Zilla Parishad, said a statement of NYK Thoubal.

Speaking on the occasion, Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal mentioned that objective of the Fit India Freedom Run was to give the message of Fit India Movement and to keep ourselves & society fit on the 75th anniversary year of India's Independence and to highlight the stories of the Freedom Struggle.

He also led a Fit India Freedom Run Pledge with the gathering.

The programme was also attended by Dr Y Nokul, Chief Medical Officer Thoubal; Nungsijao, District Youth Affairs & Sports Officer Thoubal; Ch Basanta Singh, District Program Manager, NHM, DHS Thoubal and Sachidananda, Additional SP Thoubal.

NYK Thoubal District Youth Officer, Michael Mate welcomed the dignitaries and presented mementos.

It maye be mentioned that NYK Thoubal had also organised village level Fit India Freedom Runs in Thoubal District from August 13 to September 4 .

Freedom runs were also organised in Tamenglong, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul and Tengnoupal districts by NYKS Manipur.
