12th Manipur State League KLASA eke out 2-1 win over SU

Imphal, October 03 2017: KLASA, Keinou eked out a hard fought win over SU by a margin of 2-1 in the ongoing 12th Manipur State League to improve their standing on the league table today .

The tournament organised by All Manipur Football Association is underway at the Artificial Turf ground at Khuman Lampak .

Wary of each other, the two teams took to the field cautious of each other and did not really open up instead concentrating on keeping their citadel intact .

There were fine runs down the flanks initiated by either team, but the defence line of the two teams did well to keep the forward lines at bay .

With neither team dominating the match, play was concentrated in the midfield, with both relying more on quick counter attacks .

Lemon break was taken with the score intact .

After the breather, SU put more purpose in their game and started stretching the defence line of KLASA with some quick running down the flanks and accurate passes in the mid field .

With the ball taken deep into the territory of KLASA, the ball went to African import Olari Emeka who neatly controlled the ball, side stepped a couple of defenders and beat the custodian of KLASA with a rasping shot to put SU ahead in the 63rd minute .

Stung by the goal, KLASA re-organised their approach to the game and played more purposefully finding the gaps .

The equaliser came barely a minute later when Jerry found himself well placed and took a rasping shot that went past the outstretched hands of the custodian of SU to restore parity in the 64th minute .

Spurred by the equaliser, KLASA went on the offensive and tried to break the defence line of SU but the defenders of SU rose to the occasion and managed to neutralise all the good moves initiated from either flanks and the mid field .

SU did too did not loosen their grip on the match as they tried to find the gap in the defence line of KLASA with fast runs down the flanks .

With the match seemingly headed towards a 1-1 draw, M Aboy of KLASA got the perfect opportunity in additional time (90+4) and let go a power packed shot that ruffled the net of SU and helped his team earn full points.
