IG AR interacts with AR archery and polo teams

Imphal, July 29 2020:
Maj Gen Alok Naresh, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) visited Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles and interacted with DGAR archery and polo team attached with HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles at Keithelmanbi Garrison on Jul 24 .
The Assam Rifles Archery Team (ARAT) comprising of 16 men and 6 women archers participated in various competition/championships at National and International levels including State Archery Championships, All India Police Archery Championships, 1st North East Olympic Games, NTPC Championships, World Police & Fire Games at the United States and Chengdu, China etc, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
It also said that the team proved their mettle by winning 137 gold, 98 silver and 67 bronze medals and various championship trophies in both individual as well as team events since raising.
DG Assam Rifles polo team was raised in the year 2017 .
The team comprises 11 players who have participated in DGAR Polo Cup, DGAR Equestrian Championship, All Manipur State Polo Tournament, Dr N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournaments since raising.
The team is working hard and is improving each passing day, it added.
The IG interacted with the archer and polo teams and encouraged them to excel in the sport and aim at bringing laurels for the country in their future endeavours.
He also appreciated the dedication and hard work of both teams and highlighted the rich tradition of sports in Manipur and assured maximum possible help and support for the budding sports talent.
