Imphal, January 01 2018: Living up to the expectations of all, the Assam Rifles Archery Team (ARAT) performed splendidly and brought laurels to Assam Rifles during the Manipur Senior State Archery Championship - 2017 which was held at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal from 19-21 Jan 2018 bagging a total six Gold, two Silver and two Bronze medals including two Gold medals in team events.

The Assam Rifles Archery Team fielded archers in individual and teams events of Recurve, Compound and Indian Round the tournament and for the first time a womens team in individual and team event of the Indian Round of the tournament was also fielded comprising of the women soldiers of Assam Rifles.

The performance of the players under the coach Naib Subedar Satish Dubey in both individual and team events of all the three categories was commendable.

In the men's category in the Rifleman General Duty Th Sanatomba Singh won Gold medal in the Olympic Round of Recurve Category also the ARAT won Gold medal in team event of the same category.

In the Compound Category Rifleman General Duty G Robert Sharma won Gold medal in the individual Olympic Round and was also adjudged overall Best Archer in the Compound Category winning an additional Gold medal.

The ARAT also won the Gold medal of the team event of Compound category.

In the Indian Round Rifleman General Duty Ishak Sinate won Silver medal and Rifleman General Duty Ch Hari Chandra won Bronze medal in both individual Olympic round and in 30 mtr distance of Indian category.

In the women's category Mahila Rifleman General Duty Sapna participating in the State Competition for the first time won Gold medal individual Olympic round in the Indian category and won silver medal in 50 mtr distance Indian category.
