Imphal, January 01 2018:
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Haraothel to lay the foundation stone of National Sports University, a mega cleanliness drive was carried out there by the people of surrounding villages today.
The mega social service camp organised by the National Sports University Haraothel Protection Committee (NSUHPC) started from Senjam Khunou and covered the newly constructed helipad as well as the site where the Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone.
The social service was participated by around 1000 volunteers.
NSUHPC working president Irungbam Ranjan said that the social service camp was organised with a view to keep Haraothel and surrounding areas neat and clean ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
The site for NSU is donated by the surrounding villages with the hope that the university would help alleviate the socio-economic condition of the villages which remain quite backward in multiple aspects, Ranjan said.
Sekmai AC MLA Heikham Dingo, Mayang Langjing Zilla Parishad Member Keisham Sahdev and Phumlou Gram Panchayat Pradhan Maisnam Manichand also took part in the social service camp.
