Imphal, January 01 2018:
Decrying that the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) launched by the Chief Minister today does not have any provision for the welfare of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), a large number of ASHAs today staged a protest demonstration by burning different articles particularly clothes in front of Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium soon after Chief Minister N Biren and Health Minister L Jayantakumar left the place after launching CMHT.
Notably, the scheme was launched as a part of the Statehood Day celebration.

Some ASHAs told media persons that the scheme launched today could not be effectively implemented without ASHAs.
Even after knowing that ASHAs have huge responsibilities in implementing the scheme, neither the Chief Minister nor the Health Minister talked anything about the grievances of ASHAs.
They said that ASHAs have not been paid their paltry monthly honorarium of Rs 1000 since 2016 .
The scheme promises ASHAs Rs 10 to Rs 30 for enlisting a beneficiary under CMHT which sounds rather farcical.
"We would rather forgo this sum", they said.
"Even though we came to attend the function since early morning, the way eatables were distributed was rather insulting.
The eatables were not given to us but thrown towards us", they added.
