MCA T20 Luwangpokpa Trophy : REYS, Blue Hawk notch up handsome wins

REYS, Nagamapal and Blue Hawk, Khurai notched up convincing wins against their respective rivals in the ongoing 1st MCA Luwangpokpa Trophy underway at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium at Luwangshangbam today.
In the first match of the day, REYS downed UCC, Uripok by 65 runs to notch up a convincing win and stay on course.
On winning the toss, REYS opted to bat first and resting on some handsome contributions from their frontline batsmen managed to score 148 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Mintu Chandra was especially impressive with the bat as he tore apart the bowling attack of UCC with shots all over the ground and went on to make a commendable 61 runs off only 48 balls.
The failure of the bowler of UCC to stick to a good line and length was exploited to the full by the batsmen of REYS as their batsmen continuously picked the loose balls and sent them ripping past the boundary.
The good work of Mintu Chandra was carried on by Jayenta who made a swashbuckling 57 runs off only 39 balls.
So dominant was Jayenta with the bat that all the balls were packed off to the boundary with some fine cuts and powerful shots that caught the fielders of UCC running all over the ground to stop the ball.
Jayenta carried his bat through his innings.
Lending him good support was Rahul who contributed a timely and useful 12 runs off 25 balls.
Only Satish was among the notable wicket takers of UCC as he bagged two wickets and Abungo bagged one wicket.
At the end of 20 overs, REYS had totalled 149 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Faced with a huge target of 150 runs to win the match, the batting line up of UCC fell by the wayside with Sanjit leading the charge with 5 wickets.
Guniram chipped in with 3 wickets.
Only Roshan and Deniss put up some semblance of a fight for UCC scoring 22 runs off 27 balls and 13 runs off 24 balls respectively for UCC.
The innings of UCC folded up for 84 runs handing the match to REYS on a platter.
For his devastating spell of 5 wickets, Sanjit of REYS bagged the man of the match award.
In the second match of the day Blue Hawk, Khurai outbatted and outbowled KIYC, Kshetrigaon to win the match by 63 runs.
On winning the toss Blue Hawk opted to bat first and Samson led the way in compiling 34 runs off 36 balls to set the team on the road to a big total.
Samson received good support from Lokeshwor who scored 25 runs off 27 balls and Jitendra Thakur who made a quick fire 16 runs off 7 balls.
For KIYC, Abdul Hamid led the charge bagging two wickets while Lenin also chipped in with two wickets.
Abdullah and Suresh bagged one wicket each.
At the end of 20 overs Blue Hawk had totalled 143 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Faced with the daunting task of scoring 144 runs to notch up a win, KIYC started tentatively, but the tight bowling of Blue Hawk ensured that wickets kept falling at regular interval with Momo scoring 18 runs off 26 balls and Suresh 11 runs off 15 balls and Kouser 10 runs off 13 balls.
For Blue Hawk, Samson led from the front in grabbing three wickets while Baftery also grabbed three wickets.
Jitendra bagged two wickets and Sanatomba one wicket.
For his all round show with the ball (three wickets) and bat (34 runs) Samson of Blue Hawk won the man of the match award.
