Over 70 pc turn out for repoll at Kpi, CCpur

Kangpokpi, March 09 2017:
Re-poll in 15 polling stations under 46-Saikul and 51 -Saitu in Kangpokpi district concluded peacefully with a tentative turnout recorded at 76.14% .
The turnout of the 12 polling in 46-Saikul AC has been recorded at 77.15% while the three polling stations in 51 -Saitu AC has been recorded with a turn out of 74.98% .
The polling parties in all the 15 repoll stations reached DC complex, Kangpokpi safely and the concerned polling officials have submitted the EVMs to the authorities concerned.
The 12 polling stations that went for repoll today under 46-Saikul AC were 46/1 Saikho, 46/2 Khaochangbung, 46/3 Molkon (A), 46/5 Molkon (B), 46/16 Ekou Mulam, 46/18 Luwang sangol, 46/21 Khongnangpokpi, 46/24 H Champhai, 46/30 Khamenlok, 46/42 Kamuching, 46/43 Leirok Vaiphei and 46/44 Maphou Kuki while the 3 polling stations under 51 -Saitu AC are 51/2 Mayangkhang (A), 51/3 Mayangkhang (B) and 51/12 L Simol.
46-Saikul NCP candidate C Doungel and his son Paotinmang Doungel, Addl DGP gave their vote at 46/5 Molkon polling station while it has been reported that the ADGP refused to break the long queue when he was offered priority to cast his vote while standing together with other voters.
51 -Saitu BJP candidate Haokholet Kipgen who was present at the polling station of 51/2 Mayangkhang (A) stated that voting in the repolling stations at 51 -Saitu AC was conducted peacefully.
Meanwhile, at 46/16 Ekou Mulam polling station in 46-Saikul AC, Congress supporters alleged that BJP and LJP candidates attempted to capture the polling booth by importing voters from other areas which the security personnel denied.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Kangpokpi, T Ranjit Singh, IAS issued an order under subsection 2 of Section 144 of CrPC in the entire Kangpokpi district and more particularly within a radius of 200 meters from the counting centre located at BC Office, Kangpokpi to avoid any kind of untoward incident during the counting of votes.
CHURACHANDPUR : The repolling for six polling stations in Thanlon AC including five in Henglep AC and once each in Saikot AC and Singngat AC was held today with the final polling percentage pegged at a little over 70 .
55/27 Tuilaphai under Henglep AC has recorded the highest turnout with a percentage of 90.32 while Thanlon (A) in Thanlon AC recorded the lowest at 50.48 .
While other candidates were busy for the repoll, four can- didates in Thanlon AC decided to skip the repoll and hold at rally where they submitted a memorandum to the ECI through the CEO Churachandpur demanding a fresh poll in their Constituency.
The candidates representing, INC, NPP, LJP and an Inde- pendent submitted a memo wherein it claimed that the polling was largely rigged with booth capturing and impersonation.
It also said that out of the 14 polling stations it had requested for reviewing, there was no video recording in four of them.
Despite their request for repoll in 21 polling stations, only 6 were notified which they termed as unfair.
