MPSC eves claim Futsal crown

O bembem and Ronibala scored two goals each as MPSC-A outclassed ESU-B, Wangkhei 5-2 to wrest the title of the inaugural Women's Open Futsal 2014 tournament at YLL Ground, Pishumthong Ningom Leirak today.
Dominating the opponents, the police eves raced to 2-0 lead with bembem and Ronibala scoring in the opening and ninth minutes of the summit clash.
Unwilling to give up the title match so easily the Wangkhei side responded through Th Umapati (18th) and I Prameshwori (27th) to stay alive in the title race.
However, the ESU duo's good work went to waste when Chanchan put MPSC-A back in front in the 34th minute before Ronibala (36th) and Bembem (38th) rounded off the comfortable victory that fetched the team top cash prize of Rs 10,000.The runners-up had to e content with half the amount.
Bembem also bagged the player of the final match and first goal scorer titles as team-mate Ng Bala emerged as the competition's highest goal scorer with 39 strikes against opponent teams.
SAI RC, Takyel was adjudged the best discipline team.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was held with BJP candidate for inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency RK Ranjan Singh and IWDFA president S Sanatomba Singh as the chief guest and president respectively while AMFA general secretary L Ranjit Roy and Yaipha Lamjing Lup, Pishum Ningom Leirak president L Haridas Singh graced the event as the guests of honour.
