Imphal, August 31: A discussion programme on the various programmes taken up by the UPA Government for the welfare of farmers was held at Congress Bhavan located at Thoubal Athokpam.

The discussion programme organised by the Kishan Khet Mazdoor, Thoubal District Congress Committee was attended by State chairman of Kishan Khet Mazdoor T Nabakumar, its secretary, president of the Thoubal District Congress Committee and block level congress presidents and secretaries.

The discussion programme focussed on the various farmer welfare programmes launched by the UPA Government.

They deliberated on the plight of farmers caused by scarcity of fertilizer in the State and its possible remedies.

The programme also studied the possible ways of extending credit to farmers through banks.
