Thoubal, June 03 2022: Around 8.9 Kgs of suspected opium (kani) was seized by a combined team of Thoubal commandos and troops of 16 Assam Rifles from the possession of one Satminthang Kipgen alias Minthang (32) s/o Lalsat Kipgen of Ningel Mollen village, Kangpokpi district.

The contraband item was seized while checking a car (Micra) driven by Satminthang Kipgen alias Minthang at Salam Patong at around 5 am today.

A sum of Rs 2,81,900, suspected to be proceeds of drug trade, was also seized from the possession of Satminthang Kipgen who was also arrested by observing due formality.

The arrested individual and the seized items have been handed over to Nongpok Sekmai police station.
