32 vehicles damaged during strike

Imphal, April 19 2013 :
On the first day of 48-hour Manipur bandh being called against the burning down of two Imphal-bound goods laden trucks bound and subsequent killing of driver S Babu, at least 32 vehicles were stoned and damaged by bandh supporters.
The body of S Babu has not yet been accepted by the family members and is presently lying at the mortuary of RIMS.
Bandh supporters stoned and damaged altogether 32 vehicles coming along Imphal Dimapur road.
The damaged vehicles included 17 oil tankers, seven Winger and Trucks and 7 LPG bullets.
In the stoning, a driver of an LPG Bullet (MN01/8192) sustained injuries on his right eyebrow and he has been hospitalized.
The bandh called by All Manipur Road transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union received immense support from Senapati District Drivers Welfare Union.
As a result of the bandh, all inter-state transport, inter-village services came to a standstill.
