Huge drugs consignment seized at Imphal-Moreh route

Personnel of 8 Manipur Rifles have seized a huge quantity of drugs from a house at Tengnoupal, on the Imphal-Moreh route last night.
The drugs, tablets of all made, were found packed in four bags and the number of tablets has been put at 5 lakh, 21 thousand, seven hundred fifty and valued at Rs 52 lakhs, 17 thousand, nine hundred ninety.
The consignment comprised of 11 packets of Polyfed-C, two packets of Srifed-T, seven packets of Opicet-P, three packets of Alicfed, four packets of Actisun and one packet of Omkof, all packed in four bags.
Notably this is the biggest drug seizure on the Imphal-Moreh route after the Pallel drug haul on February 24 this year when drugs worth Rs 25 crore was seized by Thoubal police commandos.
Acting on an information, MR personnel posted at Saivom on Imphal-Moreh route raided the house of one Seikholet Mate (28) s/o Helkhai Mate of Tengoupal and seized the drugs packed in four bags, police said.

Two persons identified as Jamlet Haokip (50) s/o late Doujang Haokip and Jangthong Haokip (25) s/o Thangkholal Haokip of Saivom brought the consignment to the house of Seikholet Mate of Tengnoupal to smuggle further to Moreh.
The trio along with another person identified as Ngamkhai Touthang of Tuisomjang were apprehended by the MR team and handed over to Pallel Police Station for further investigation.
