Imphal, December 06 2009: While highlighting that it would not oppose when citizens choose to embrace any religion, the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) cautioned all concerned that spreading of new religion with monetary promises as well as conversion through financial or material benefits would not be tolerated.

A statement issued today by the Chief Fundraiser cum secretary of Department of Information and Public Relations of the Revolutionary Government of Kangleipak Communist Party Tabungba Meitei said restrictions imposed on spreading of commercial-based religion in Manipur is being taken with a view to safeguard the economically unsound indigenous people from being exploited through the lure of money.

Explaining that for centuries groups of people settled in Manipur have their own religion and ethnic tradition but taking advantage of the situation of majority of the people enduring financial problems certain vested individual had been attempting to exploit the situation which the KCP will not endorse.

Tabungba also opined that spreading of new religion is part of the Indian Government's designs to dilute identity of the indigenous people and should be opposed from all section of the Manipuri society.

On the otherhand, the outfit also proclaimed that detailed informations have been collected regarding 11 persons involved in serving home demands under the name of the KCP organisation.

What sort of punishment, if any, would be initiated against these individuals would be decided in the meeting of politburo and executive members slated for January, 2010, Tabungba informed while urging the masses to conveyed any anti-party activities to the KCP on [email protected].

Tabungba further conveyed belated Id-ul-Zuha wishes of its president Ningamba Meitei to the Meitei-Pangal community.

Regretting that the Id message could not be sent in time owing to certain constraints, Tabungba pointed out that for over 300 years Meitei-pangals have been an integral part of the manipuri society and the KCP is committed to sustain the cordial relationships among various communities.
