Don't create confusion, advises IPAK

Imphal, October 02 2019: Indigenous Peoples' Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) has urged all not to create any confusion while organising birth anniversaries or observance in the State.

Speaking to media persons at IPAK office at Keishampat today, its vice president Thangjam Joshikanta said that after the 123rd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was organised on September 30 at Praja High School with pictures of Irabot and Mahatma Gandhi side by side on the banner, the school authorities, including the Headmaster, came to IPSA office and an understanding was reached.

He then appealed to all to organise birth anniversaries and other important observation properly so as not to cause any confusion and explained that failure to do so, might impart the wrong kind of knowledge to the young students and the people.

He also urged the State Government to be detailed and precise in its order to the schools regarding events or functions to be held so as to avoid any confusion in the future.

On the other hand, the school Headmaster, I Birendrakumar said that Swachh Bharat Mission was organised in the whole of September and explained that the schools found it hard to follow the instructions given by the authorities concerned to celebrate the 105th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 123rd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot as the schools have a separate calendar system for the convenience of the students.

It will be of great relief if the Department or authorities concerned issues clear and precise orders regarding activities, functions etc to the schools, he added.

The Headmaster then clarified that the photos of Mahatma Gandhi and Lamyanba Hijam Irabot were put in the same banner during the event due to some misunderstanding and assured to avoid such mistakes in the future.
