Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today remanded K Gaijailung (41) to 15 days judicial custody from May 17 to 31 in connection with an extortion case filed at Lamphel Police Station.
In addition, the Court has allowed the formal arrest of the accused, an alleged cadre of MNRF, from the custody of the Court in relation to his involvement in a case bearing FIR No 01 (03) 2024 NNE-PS U/S 307/324/427/400 IPC and Explosive Substances Act, 2001 lodged with Noney Police Station.
Notably, after his arrest on May 10, K Gaijailung alias TK Gaijailung, s/o (L) K Khanglubon of Longmai, Noney-I, was produced before the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West and remanded into police custody for a period of six days from May 11 to 16 for his involvement in extorting money from ABCI Company located at Awangkhul and Rahee Company in Noney.
Meanwhile, today, the IO of the case submitted that thorough interrogation cannot be conducted and thus prayed for the accused to be remanded to 15 more days judicial custody from May 17 to May 31 for thorough investigation of the case.
It may be mentioned that K Gaijailung's involvement is also under question in the lobbing of a hand grenade at the premises of ABCI company, Awangkhul on March 24, 2024 .
The Court on perusal of the application and after hearing the IO's prayer remanded K Gaijailung to 15 days judicial remand from May 17 to 31 and allowed his formal arrest in connection with another case registered with Noney Police Station.
