Sanajaoba queries air connectivity

Rajya Sabha MP Leisemba Sanajaoba has asked whether the Central Government has taken up any initiative to facilitate air connectivity in different parts of Manipur especially at the towns in the hill districts.
Raising the query during the Question Hour on the floor of the Parliament, the MP also sought response from the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister on the status of the air connectivity projects being taken up in North East India and the statistics of air traffic.
Has the Government taken up any initiative to facilitate air connectivity in strategic towns of hill districts in Manipur through helicopter services, he further asked.
Responding to the query, Union Minister of State for DoNER Dr Sukanta Majumdarna said that the Government has identified five locations viz Jiribam, Moreh, Parbung, Tamenglong and Thanlon to build helipads and begin helicopter services under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) .
Pawan Hans Ltd ( PHL) will be the service provider.
He further said that Government launched helicopter service connecting Imphal, Tamenglong and Jiribam under RCS on March 13 this year with the routes being Imphal- Tamenglong - Imphal, Jiribam - Tamenglong - Jiribam and Imphal - Jiribam - Imphal.
The Minister also stated that the Centre has already sanctioned Rs 9.10 crore, Rs 8.32 crore and Rs 11.59 crore to operationalise air service from Moreh, Parbung and Thanlon.
