Imphal, November 07 2021:
The locals have condemned the ongoing preparations to construct a Police Out Post on the disputed khas land at Chingkham Ching in Lilong Assembly Constituency.
If the authorities concerned still continue to act against the wishes of the locals, intense form of agitations will be carried out along with the support of various CSOs in the State, cautioned Md Aslam Khan, secretary, Lilong Chingkham Maya Development Organisation.
He made the above statement while speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Lilong Chingkham in Thoubal district today.
He stated that around 8.00 hectares of the Lilong Chingkham Ching has been designated as a khas land since 1968 and they have relevant documents to validate the same.
However, the State Government's act to construct a Police Out Post which is a zero kilometre from Lilong Police Station is unacceptable, he added.
He continued that Khas land should be used for the welfare of the public where structures such as community halls, sports complex etc should be built in the interest of the locals.
He further warned that if the Government continues to act against the wishes and tries to forcefully construct the Police Out Post, the Government will be held responsible for any untoward outcome.
Further Md Aslam Khan appealed to the departments concerned and CSOs of the State to intervene and help in solving the matter amicably.
Chief Advisor of Lilong Chingkham Maya Development Organisation Alhaj Ashraf Ali who was present at the press meet also appealed to all the authorities concerned to resolve the matter at the earliest in the interest of the locals of the area.
