Imphal, August 07 2022: An oil tanker which sells diesel door to door under a Start-up scheme of the Government has been pulled up for selling fuel in defiance of guidelines.

Sources informed that the rogue tanker has been taken into the custody of District Supply Officers (DSO), Thoubal.

The oil tanker fitted with mobile dispenser bears registration number AS01-NC-7825 and its driver has been identified as one Upendra Sharma from Jharkhand.

The oil tanker sold diesel at some areas of Thoubal a few days back.

It also offered to sell diesel at some oil pumps by reducing the price by Rs 5 to 10 per litre from the rate fixed by the Government, said the sources.

Under the door-to-door delivery service, also known as FuelEnt, the oil tanker should deliver diesel to places where there is high demand for diesel, particularly those places where stationery equipment like generator sets, earth moving equipment, heavy machinery and mobile towers are operated.

If someone intends to refill their stationery equipment with diesel with the help of the door-to-door delivery service, his/ her mobile phone should be linked with the oil tanker.

The nozzle of the oil tanker's dispensing unit can be opened only after the customer's mobile number is linked.

In another word, the nozzle can be opened at only specified places, not anywhere, said the sources.

But the nozzle of the particular oil tanker could be opened anywhere.

Moreover, the oil tanker did not possess the trade licence issued by the district administration nor other documents.

The driver should also possess hazard licence after receiving training on tackling accidental fire but he did not possess the hazard licence, the sources conveyed.

As per guidelines of Start-up scheme, oil tankers engaged in door-to-door deliver service may refill at retail outlets which have refilling facility.

It is said that the oil tanker which has been pulled up went for refill to NRL/BPCL oil pump, Thoubal.
