The 15th World Teachers' Day was observed at ZEO Zone II complex at Porompat under the aegis of the All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA), Zone-II.
The observance was graced by MLA Th Nandakishore and AMESTA Zone-II president W Krishnamani as chief guest and functional president respectively.
Imphal East SP Th Radheshyam, ZEO Zone-II Ch Amuba and Deputy Inspector Y Inaocha also attended the function as guests of honour.
The main feature of the observance was distribution of financial assistance to retired teachers and families of expired teachers.
The financial assistance was provided by AMESTA Zone-II.
Moreover, a souvenir produced by AMESTA Zone-II was also released during the function.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Radheshyam said that education did not only mean securing high marks but it also means understanding the concepts of the lessons learnt and meaningful co-existence in the society.
Observing that the existing education system did not provide ample opportunities to students to showcase their talents and creativity, and that teachers did not teach detailed concepts to students, the SP appealed to all teachers to work sincerely so as to groom competent future generations.
