In response to the diktat given, three persons surrendered to the proscribed the RPF/PLA today in connection with the seizure of 1500 Zarda cans from Kangpokpi on Dec 31 last year.
The three persons who surrendered and admitted to their involvement in the case are identified as Ibemcha Devi (35) w/o Tomba of Moreh Ward No.III, Thoudam Ibotombi (35) of Awang Sekmai and Laishram Ongbi Thoibi Devi (38) of Sekmai Laipat.
Thoibi was allegedly involved directly in smuggling Zarda worth around Rs 28,000 and supplied the same to one Prafullo of Moreh Gate No.II while Ibotombi allegedly provided shelter to the accused.
Parading them before mediapersons somewhere in Senapati district today, a spokesperson of the outfit's department of communication and publicity informed that since they surrendered to the outfit within the set deadline, all three of them would be handed over to their respective families after giving proper advice against defying the restriction imposed by RPF/PLA on selling and consumption of tobacco products.
However, if they were found violating the restriction, then RPF/PLA would not be able to forgive them and they themselves should be ready to bear with the consequences, the spokesperson warned.
The spokesperson further informed that during the course of interrogation, it has been found out the involvement of three more persons including Prafullo of Moreh in smuggling in the tobacco product.
Identifying the other two persons as Manaobi and Abo of Sekmai Bazar, the spokesperson asked Prafullo, Manaobi and Abo to surrender within five days from today.
All three of them confessed to their involvement and pledged not to defy the ban in future.
