Inspector Khogen leaves Kpi with good Samaritan act, local bodies bid farewell

Kangpokpi, April 28 2021:
An inspiring police officer, Inspector Maibam Khogen, Officer incharge of Kangpokpi Police Station left Kangpokpi for his new posting at CID(SB) yesterday.
The sincere police officer before leaving the district embarked on another good Samaritan service by helping a few widows from Kangpokpi town to embark on a decent business for their livelihood.
Recently, the local bodies of Kangpokpi town under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee had banned liquor business in the town following which all liquor sellers voluntarily decided to quit their business by April 25 .
Among them few were widows doing the liquor business for their livelihood.
Inspector Khogen was aware of the situation before receiving his transfer order on April 26 .

So, he requested the Town Committee to identify the widows who quit their business to start a decent business and later before leaving the town on April 27 morning he met with the widows at Kangpokpi Town Committee office and provided financial assistance of Rs 5,000 each to three widows to start their new business in the presence of KTC, KWWO and KYU leaders.
The police officer advised the widows to use the amount to embark on a new business for their livelihood stating that liquor business would not bring any good to their family and the society as well.
Inspector Maibam Khogen was instrumental in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 first wave in the district.
Apart from standing in the frontline, he also addressed the grievances of many daily wage earners in the town in his capacity.
Meanwhile, the local bodies of Kangpokpi including Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, Kangpokpi Youth Union under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee organised a simple farewell ceremony at the office chamber of the OC Kangpokpi yesterday morning.
The town committee as a token of love and appreciation presented the police officer a traditional 'Saipi Khup' waistcoat while the KWWO and KYU presented him a traditional phanek 'Khamtang' for his wife.
Emotional Inspector Maibam Khogen stated that transfer and posting is part and parcel of every Government servant and he had experienced many transfers during his service career spanning more than 30 years, but his brief association with Kangpokpi will remain one of the most memorable one.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to all the local bodies of Kangpokpi for their love and support during his short stay and also conveyed his respect and love to the KTC, KWWO, KYU and all the people of the beautiful hill town.
The police officer also conveyed his heartfelt thanks to his superior officers, subordinate officers and personnel of Kangpokpi police for their support and cooperation.
It may be mentioned that Inspector Maibam Khogen was transferred to CID(SB) while Inspector Henminthang Kipgen took charge as the OC of Kangpokpi police station.
