COCOMI flags off Koubru pilgrims

With a message of peaceful coexistence, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) flagged of 5 buses on a two-day expedition at Awang Koubru Asuppa from the office of United Committee Manipur (UCM) at Lamphelpat, today.
The journey is being taken out under the theme "Save Heritage, Save Identity" .
Speaking to The Sangai Express, media coordinator of COCOMI, Jitendra Ningomba said that Awang Koubru Asuppa at Mt Koubru range is one such sacred place that has a close connection with the indigenous communities of Manipur.
Preserving such a site is imperative to protect the identities of the indigenes, he said.
Adding that the expedition will study the condition of Mount Koubru, he added that the committee will discuss measures for conserving the mountain based on the finding of the journey and the same will be submitted to the State Government for implementation.
For the convenience of pilgrims, COCOMI will also construct separate toilets for male and female at Mt Koubru, apart from planting saplings, Jitendra continued.
