Smile Train Shija Cleft Project to bring thousand smiles in Kpi dist

Kangpokpi, April 20 2017:
As part of the Cleft Week observation, an awareness program on cleft lip and palate for ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and other stakeholders of Kangpokpi district was conducted this afternoon at Kangpokpi districct HQs.
The awareness programme was jointly organized by Kangpokpi district administration and Smile Train Shija Cleft Project at DC conference hall, Kangpokpi.
The Cleft Week observation mainly raised awareness among Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) workers and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel during the past two days after it was successfully launched on April 17 .

Rally, meeting post-operation patients and counselling will be undertaken in the next three days.
T Ranjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi and Dr Surchandra Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Kangpokpi district highlighted the importance of the observation and on the necessity on the part of the general public particularly ASHAs and Anganwadi workers in identifying cleft lip and palate people in the district for the free medical treatment under Smile Train Shija Cleft Project.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Palin, chairman cum managing director, Shija Hospitals, Imphal stressed the aims of the Smile Train Shija Cleft Project and conveyed desire to bring thousand smiles in Kangpokpi district.
He urged the ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to disseminate the information related to the project and help in solving cleft palate or cleft lip in the district and give new life.
Deputy Commissioner T Ranjit Singh also announced incentives for ASHAs and Anganwadi workers who could identify any cleft lip or cleft palate in the district and help them avail the facility under Smile Train Shija Cleft Project.
He also urged the village chiefs, youth and CSOs to approach the district administration to obtain or provide information on cleft lip or cleft palate.
