Imphal, November 18 2008:
The NSCN (IM) has justified its action of thrashing special contractor Kalanchung saying that it was according to his faults.
The outfit's Zeliangrong region (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) CAO L Golmei accused Kalanchung of bribing Health Minister Parijat with Rs 8 lakhs besides making derogatory remarks against the outfit.
For his faults, Kalanchung Kamei was asked to come for talk on November 13 but he paid no heed.
On November 16 when he came to Tamenglong district Hqs with Health Minister Parijat, party cadres called him for a talk again.
But this time, the contractor dismissed the call saying that there was no need to meet the CAO.
It was for all these faults and disrespect that the party cadres thrashed him to teach a lesson, Golmei said.
Later Kalanchung apologised for all his foul words and actions to the CAO.
Pledging not to make such haughty mistakes again, he also signed on a written declaration.
Saying that outfit has records of the statements given by Kalanchung, Golmei said that it lacks justification for the Tamenglong District Contractors' Association to condemn the November 16 incident.
Cautioning against condemning the action by any individual/group in future, Golmei appealed to all concerned to commence works after obtaining permission from the party's concerned authority so as to avoid such ugly incidents in future.
