STATE WORK Minister, K Ranjit has inspected the first phase improvement works taken up along the stretch of the Kaiphundai-Tousem road having a length of 38 km with a fund of Rs 11.5 crores under the Special Plan Assistant, SPA.
MLA from Tamei Assembly constituency, Awangbou Newmai also accompanied in the works minister's three day inspection tour and they also held direct interactions with the villagers of the village located on the side of the stretch of the road.
On detection of lack of qualities in the working like in the WBM laying, shortest of wide of the road from the recommended one, making no drain, the minister directed the contractors and concern engineers to re-start the works ad make it upto the standard.
He also threatened to the contractors that if the works with quality control could not be completed by March next year, he will not allow them to withdraw funds and they (contractors) will be
black listed.
The works minister during his three days tour also held interaction with the villagers of Keimai, Nungkao, Oinamlong, Aben, New Mandu, Mandu and Tousem villages.
The villagers also submitted memorandums with regard to the grievances and shortest in their villages.
The minister had also given assurances to look after their grievances at his best level.
While appraising the warm welcome to his arrival, Ranjit told the villagers that his tiredness of travelling around 290 km stretch of the road has forgotten and get relax.
On seeing waiting his arrival till late night in the cold winter climate, he said "It is the indication of bond of brotherhood between hill and valley people".
He also appealed to the villagers to strengthen the bond of love between the hills and valley people which have been existing since the last around two thousand years.
He also conveyed the villagers that a memorial site for the freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang whose birth place was in Tamenglong has been installed in Imphal.
He also finally appealed the contractors to work sincerely to the development works taken up in the Tousem area in the interest of the villagers and help in bringing up the villages towards development.
