Imphal, December 17 2019:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Henglep Block has questioned if the construction of the Thingkeu-Henglep road is even on the agenda of Government despite assurances by the Chief Minister.
A statement issued by the general secretary of KSO Henglep Block narrated that the Chief Minister had announced on the floor of the Assembly during the March 2017 session that he would construct a new Thingkeu-Henglep road (32 kms) .
The Chief Minister also declared during his Go to Village campaign during the month of July in 2017 at Churachandpur public ground, in front of many people, that Rs 58 crore had been earmarked for the said project, further assuring that construction of the road would start from the next financial year.
However, the project is yet to see the light of day even to this day, it lamented adding that more than two and half years have passed since then and the people of Henglep are now starting to doubt the Government.
It continued that it has come to light that even though the State PWD received the DPR of the said project from a Kolkata based firm during March last year, the State Government has not sent any recommendations to the North Eastern Council (NEC) or DoNER or MoRTH.
Claiming that even the MLA of Henglep AC expressed helplessness as he had been kept in the dark, when contacted, KSO asked if the said project was even present on the agenda of the Government in the first place.
