Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) observed its 10th Foundation Day at Kangla Hall today.
Education (S) Director M Harekrishna and MSF president Md Attabuddin graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Manipur University Dean of Students' welfare Prof Md Islamuddin, Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur secretary Dr Hamom Naba and Board of Secondary Education Manipur Chairperson Dr W Ibempishak were also members of the dais as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Harekrishna said, despite the fact that the Government has decided functioning of Keishamthong High School as an English medium school, few parents turned out to gather information regarding the new venture.
Maintaining that a student leader must follow the path of truth, Harekrishna urged the students bodies to work together with the Government to bring betterment of the society.
Speaking as an invitee, MU guest lecturer Dr Dhanabir Laishram said that the current students community of the State is undergoing in a state of 'study and struggle'.
He also added that students should therefore take part in social issues apart from their studies.
In his keynote address, MSF general secretary H Chandradon remembered that the students' body launched an awareness campaign to spare education from the purview of bandhs/ blockades/ general strikes through a discussion forum organised at Youth Centre Khuman Lampak in Novermber 2007 .
He further said that 47 MSF volunteers donated blood on the theme, maheiroi khunaida kathoklaba ee (Blood dedicated to students community) under its Eikhoi lairik ningthina tamsi campaign in February this year.
He also said that MSF had distributed books and stationery free of cost to 11,2225 students so far.
Prizes for the State level painting competition conducted on September 21 at BT park was also distributed in today's function.
