Coming out strongly against forcing a family to move out of their locality over a demand note of Rs 4 lakhs served through mobile phone allegedly by one person who identified himself as member of the proscribed PLA, people of the area staged a Wakat Meepham at Mutum Phibou Keithel today.
Kharibam Sanajaoba Singh of Mutum Phibou Mayai Leikai, who works as an LDA in Water Supply Scheme Division-I of PHED reportedly left along with his wife and children after locking up their house in the wee hours of October 4 following the demand note and subsequent threats over the mobile phone.
It is said that after the first demand note of Rs 4 lakhs served through the mobile phone no.9863523092 at around 1.30 pm of September 30 giving October 4 as the deadline for providing the money, the person who identified himself as a member of the proscribed PLA consistently issued various form of threats through smses in the evening of the same day as well as in the morning of October 1 and 3 .
In the afternoon of October 3, the person again sent an sms threatening that at least Rs 1 lakhs should be given by the following day or else Sanajaoba should be ready to accept any action taken up by the outfit.
Subsequently, Sanajaoba also received another message asking him to pay Rs 50,000 by October 4 and another Rs 50,000 by October 15 and the outfit would led him know afterward when the rest of the amount should be paid.
During the protest demonstration, placards inscribed with slogans like 'Allow Sanajaoba and his family members to stay in peace', 'Don't serve demand note and issue threats through mobile phone', 'We want an immediate explanation on serving demand note through mobile phone', etc were seen being used.
