Imphal, January 02 2022: The Manipur Police arrested 398 persons in drug related cases, 238 cadres of underground outfits, seized 167 arms and killed 15 suspected insurgents in 2021 .

The 398 individuals arrested in drug related cases included 60 women, said a statement issued by PRO of Manipur Police Khuplen Lhouvum.

The statement continued that the police seized heroin (36.46 kg), Valium-10 tablet (120 pieces) and Dizzy-10 tablet (70 pieces) from 185 individuals including 33 women.

The police also arrested five men along with 826.43 kg of ganja and another five men along with 19,153 SP capsules.

The statement further said that the police seized 372 pieces of N-10 tablets, but none were arrested.

Maintaining that 381.75 kgs of opium were also seized in the previous year, the statement added that the seized items included 80 litres of Opium Alkaloid Liquid, 20 kgs of opium and lime mixture etc.

Altogether 11 bags weighing 430 kgs which contained 164.69 of brown sugar and 26.50 litres of morphinated liquid among others were also seized.

The police also arrested 42 men and four women along with brown sugar and chemicals used in manufacturing the drug, apart from seizing WY tablets (35.82 kgs), 15 packets of ice drug and 10,08,268 tablets, cough syrup (11,291 bottles), Samplex (970 capsules), two plastic storage tanks of Ammonium Chloride (55 liters and 60 liters), 5.9 kgs of lime and one kilogram of Crystal Methamphetamine.

In 2021, the State police destroyed 2,622.375 acres of poppy plantation.

The police also arrested 69 individuals (34 men and 35 women) under the Foreigners Act.

In its counter insurgency operation, the State police arrested 233 cadres belonging to different outfits and eliminated 15 suspected cadres, it said.

Altogether 167 arms, 3115 live bullets, 253 IEDs, explosive (3 kgs), 76 hand grenades, six RPGs, two safety fuses, 27 lathodes, 360 detonators, 30 NT sets and Rs 6,17,222 and 4500 Kyat in cash were seized.

The police also said that 14 persons were detained under NSA.
