Bishnupur, November 30 2022: A musical concert to bring awareness on crime against women was organised at the Moirang Khunou venue of the Manipur Sangai Festival yesterday.

The lively music concert was held under the theme "Activism to end violence against women and girls".

It was organised jointly by Impulse NGO Network, Shillong and New Life Foundation Manipur and Childline Bishnupur.

Renowned singers of Manipur performed at the concert.

Childline Bishnupur Director Dr L Pishak said the music concert was organised to spread awareness on crime against women and children among the visitors of the Sangai Festival.

If people happen to come across any crime against women and children, they should immediately report it to the nearest police station, he said.

Even as women in Manipur are quite vocal against illegal drugs, alcohol and such crimes, the number of crimes against women and children have not come down.

Even though alcohol is legal in Sikkim, the number of crimes against women is very low, he added.

"We should be very much aware of the harmful impact of crime against women and children on our society.

We are all human beings and we should act as human, and remain human," he said urging people to protect women and children against crime.
