Imphal, December 21 2009:
Chandel District Contractors' Association has called upon the Chief Minister and the Works Minister to release pending bills of over Rs 7 crores in connection with repairing the 18 kms long road stretch from Pallel to Chandel before the upcoming Christmas celebration.
In a statement, Association president HL Thunglun Anal pointed out that the contractors took up the work of repairing the 18 km long road stretch from Pallel to Chandel on receiving the work order from the Public Works Department during 2006-07 .
At the assurance of the Chief Minister, who, at the occasion of laying the foundation stone of a sports complex at Chandel as well as during meeting with the contractors in his office chamber, promised that the bills would be cleared at the completion of the work, the contractors have done their level best and completed the work by March, 2007-2008 .
However, so far, the pending bills have not been cleared, the Association president lamented.
