Medi-kit handed to Manipur scribes

Imphal, July 11 2020: District Legal Services Authority, Senapati has distributed medi-kits to State journalists who are working in the frontline amidst COVID-19 crisis during a programme organised at Manipur Press Club today.

Senapati's District and Session Judge, Samom Ibjen who is also the chairman of the District Legal Services Authority formally handed over the medi-kits to the president of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union, Bijoy Kakchingtabam.

Samom Ibjen during the event maintained that the programme was organised by District Legal Services Authority, Senapati under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority.

The event was held as a part of the legal awareness cum awareness campaign on "Health Advisories and Safe Practices" in connection with COVID-19 which was flagged off on July 6 at Maram Ramlong village, Senapati district.

Medi-kits and relief materials sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority and A2J, NE&JK Project, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India were also distributed to the marginalised section and those residing at far flung areas as a part of the campaign, he said.

Today's distribution programme was held as a part of the weeklong campaign to honour and pay tribute to the journalists who are discharging selfless services even during such a crucial juncture, he said.

According to a statement of the District Legal Services Authority, Senapati, Samom Ibjen had spoken about the purpose of the campaign and reaching out to the marginalised section and people in the far flung areas of the district during the inaugural programme on July 6.The importance of adhering to strict guidelines were also highlighted, it said while adding that officials of the Department of Justice demonstrated use of mask, hand sanitizer and washing of hands using soaps.

Officials and Para Legal Volunteers of Legal Aids Clinics Senapati District Manipur also distributed medi-kits and relief materials during the programme, it said.

The awareness cum distribution campaign aims to cover marginalised sections in 44 villages under 17 Legal Aid Clinics established under A2J, NE&JK Project and 4 institutional quarantine centres in Senapati district by engaging Para Legal Volunteers of Legal Aid Clinics, it continued.
