Imphal, July 11 2020:
Taking the fight to the Congress camp, State BJP president Prof S Tikendra today called upon the BJP party workers to come out and defeat the agenda of the Congress which is bent on derailing the agenda of development of the land and people.
The BJP president issued this call during a meeting convened to mark the completion of the first year of the second term in office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the residence of BJP member RK Shivachandra at Kwakeithel.

Addressing the gathering, S Tikendra said that the BJP has been working for the welfare of the people relentlessly and added that it has taken up all the right steps to combat COVID-19 .
On the works taken up at the Centre, S Tiken reminded the gathering that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken up a series of programmes to make India truly self reliant, without having to depend on anyone.
It is therefore important to sensitise the public to the many welfare schemes announced by the Centre, said the State BJP president and added that numerous schemes have been taken up for the development of the land and the people.
Stressing that the BJP is a people oriented party, S Tikendra said that from the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee to the present under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all the works taken up are for the people and not to feed the ego of any individual or family.
Drawing comparisons, Tikendra said that unlike the Congress party which has floated numerous policies under the name of the Gandhi-Nehru name, the BJP believes that the country is not the private fiefdom of anyone.
The Congress on the other hand has been naming schemes, airports, educational institutions etc after the Nehru-Gandhi name, Tikendra said that even today there are airports, sports events etc named after Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Nehru.
Even some schools and colleges have taken these names so that they can be in the good book of the then powers that be, Tikendra alleged.
When India got independence in 1947, Mahatma Gandhi had wanted that the Congress too should go away, but it was to assume power that Nehru transformed Congress into a political party, alleged Tikendra further and added that the Congress today has drowned under numerous scams and scandals of its own doing.
On the other hand, the BJP was founded on the foundation of sacrifice, to safeguard the Nation, protect the identity of the people, said Tikendra and added that today it is the biggest political party in the world.
Going more against the Congress, Tikendra said that the Congress has three leaders today, the mother, the son and the daughter but again these three cannot agree on any issue concerning the interests of the land.
Even on COVID-19, the three persons have different takes, said the State BJP president.
The main plank of the BJP is Nationalism and it is on this basis that the party has been going from strength to strength, he said.
Organised by Keishamthong BJP Mandal, RK Shivachandra who contested the 2017 Assembly election as a BJP candidate, said that the extension of ILP to Manipur is a gift of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Manipur is developing under the BJP, he said and lauded the efforts taken up by the State Government and the Centre to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
