Imphal, January 10 2020:
The All India State Government Employees Confederation is planning a mass protest rally in Delhi in February against privatisation of public sector industries and institutions, said a statement of the AISGEC State unit today.
The statement of the AISGEC State secretary Dr E Gilani said that the decision to hold mass protest was taken during the 6th all India conference of the AISGEC held at Kolkata on January 3 and 4 .
Denouncing the move to privatise public sector institutions, the AISGEC said that the fate of lakhs of employees are uncertain due to the extreme decisions taken by the Centre.
Many of the institutions have been privatised by the Centre and many more are in line to be sold off to private firms and institutions, it said asserting that such privatisation of the institutions will weaken the social security of the citizens of the country.
Further asserting that the Centre's planned move to privatise the institutions will profit only the rich private firms that will acquire them, AISGEC said that the unions of employees concerned and affiliated organisations have resolved to protest until Centre withdraws the plan to privatise the institutions and give them their demands.
During the conference, the State unit of AISGEC also brought up many issues facing the workers and Government employees in the State.
Pending implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and issue of minimum wages were discussed, it said.
The conference also resolved to demand special status for Manipur, said the State AISGEC.
