Residents of Lilong Mairenkhun caught a local youth on the alleged charge of indulging in handing over local youths to the security forces last night and produced before some reporters today.
The youth was identified as Mujibur Rehman (22) son of Kamarruddin @ Tomba Nupisaba (22) of Mairelkhun.
While producing Majibur Rehman at Lilong Hangamthabi Idinga, convener of the JAC against the Missing of Amirkhan, Md Habibula said that a 22-year old youth Amirkhan son of Md Yaima has been missing since Majibur Rehman had taken away him on the pretext of going to a work place.
Whereabouts of Amirkhan who went missing after going out with Majibur on April 22 last could not be traced out till date.
On the matter of missing of Amirkhan, locals caught Majibur yesterday at about 2.30 pm.
When he was interrogated it was come to notice that he had handed over Amirkhan to the 33 Assam Rifles at its Yaingangpokpi through a surrendered KCP (MC) activist named Khan @ Hatpa.
He in turn collected Rs 5000 .
Based on the disclosure made by Majibur, people of Lilong Mairenkhu, Hangam Thabi, Chingakham Mamang Leikai and its surrounding villages held a meeting today and resolved to draw the attention of the government in taking out Amrikhan from the custody of Assam Rifles and befitting punishment to Majibur Rehman.
Talking to reporters, Majibur admitted that he took away Amirkhan on the pretext of working as labourer in the erection of mobile tower and handed over to the 33 Assam Rifles through the surrendered KCP (MC) activist.
The surrendered activist Khan and he got Rs 5000 each for handing over Amirkhan.
But Khan gave him only Rs 300 saying that the remaining will be handed over later.
Amirkhan is still in the captivity of Assam Rifles, he added.
Amirkhan has been taken into their custody for using by the surrendered undergrounds in delivering demand letters, collection of money etc.
Majibur said further disclosing that earlier also he had handed over a woman named Tombi from Awaching village and another youth, Md Abothem (17) son of Rajou from Lilong Mairenkhun to the Assam Rifles.
He had been engaging in the work for the last two years.
He also indulged in other underground related works, Majibur admitted.
