Imphal, November 01 2011:
Asserting that they have conducted physical enquiry at the work site of the Senapati District Consumers Forum Court building, the Senapati District Consumers' Club (SDCC) has alleged that the construction work was found incomplete besides observing clear signs of poor workmanship and use of sub-standard construction material.
However, the contractor concerned had drawn the bill for the construction work with the false claim of having completed the work, said SDCC in a memorandum submitted to the Senapati district Deputy Commissioner.
The memorandum was jointly signed by SDCC president D Maryna and secretary MS Jerome.
The construction work has been stopped for about year and there was no sign of resuming it in the near future as the whereabouts of the contractor L Maikho could not be traced.

Similar work programmes have been executed satisfactorily in other districts particularly in Churachandpur, it said.
The SDCC urged the Deputy Commissioner that concerned officials of the department and the contractor should be pulled up for disciplinary action and made to re-construct the said building as per the specifications at the earliest failing which the SDCC would be compelled to initiate legal suit against the department and the contractor or resort to open public protest whichever is more effective.
It further appealed to the DC to take up appropriate action to ensure completion of the said work as per specifications within the stipulated time in the larger interest of the people of Senapati district.
