Tamenglong, March 29 2010: Heavy storm together with hailstone and continued since 27 March continued till today at Tamenglong.

As many as eight houses including some tresses at farms were destroyed by rage cyclone last night at Kaiphundai Naga village of Tousem SubDivision of Tamenglong district.

Among eight houses destroyed last night, the major damage were community hall bricks wall collapsed and the roofing all blown out, two privates houses, one shop, one school building, one youth club office, two barn (granary), litchi and cashew nut farms at Kaiphundai Naga village were destroyed last night, said G.Isaac, Chairman Kaiphundai Village Authority.

He also suspected that many more rubber plants and cashew nut plants may be damage as the villagers have big farming.

"The villagers did go out from their houses as the heavy storm and rain is continued till today, but what we could seen were eight houses and litchis farm near by", G Isaac said.

Private houses were belong to one Kinthuilung Kamei son of Kambi and Pousingrei Kamei son of Gaihoupou houses were totally destroyed on the last night of 28 March 2010, and their estimated cost of lost could not easily made, he said.

The two barns (granary) together with paddy, yam and other food staffs were also destroyed and belong to one Eliakim widow and one Pouhakdai son of Lulam.

One shop belongs to one Agiang son of Reithiu was also blown out last night and their estimated costs of lost were not easily made too.

One and half acres of farm with litchis and cashew nuts plants were also destroyed by the rage cyclone, and the farm belongs to one G.Tajanang son of late Hachangpou said G Isaac.

He also urged the concern authority to look into the matter and extend help to the poor villagers.

The storms together with hailstones were so heavy and plentiful that two inches was estimated on the open ground yesterday at Tamenglong district HQs.

The damage reports are still awaited as people did not go out as lightening and thundering continued till today.

It is also report that some electric naked wire also fallen on the road between Tamenglong to Khongsang road, and no electricity was supply for three days today.
